In collaboration with the artist, Susan T. Grant, h+m were awarded a commission to provide a suitable design for a small courtyard that was part of a new housing and health centre development in central Aberdeen, designed by Richard Murphy Architects.  The courtyard is surrounded by tall walls and therefore shade tolerant, hardy plants were needed, with minimum maintenance requirements.   The major elements included a Cor-ten steel plant bed with matching wood and Cor-ten steel benches, Caithness paving slabs and a series of stainless steel wall panels with laser etched motifs designed by the artist.  The most striking feature is the installation of large turquoise rubber balls, set within a ground cover of Sagina subulata (Heath Pearlwort).  The Sagina is quickly establishing and spreading throughout the courtyard.
