Occupying a challenging and constrained area of derelict land on the south side of Glasgow, An Ordain, a company specialising in the design and manufacturing of high quality watches, proposed a new office and workshop facility.
Restrictions regarding the building’s proximity to the adjacent railway and existing trees, access points from the road frontage and relationship to the steep banking to the River Cart determined the triangular building shape. To the west, car parking and refuse vehicle access are accommodated in a gradation of hard to soft landscape which limits the influence of vehicles on the site whilst maximising the potential for soft landscape. To the north, a private garden space for seating and barbeques is provided for staff and visitors.
The project received planning permission in 2023 and is awaiting funding so that detailed design work can be progressed.
